Family Law
Family law in Cyprus follows to a great extends Greek family law, regulated by a number of statutes and relevant case law. The word ‘Family’ is one which it is difficult if not impossible to define. For our purposes we regard the family as a basic social unit constituted by at least two people, whose relationship may be that of two persons in a marital relationship (including civil partners under Civil Partnership under the Civil Union Law of 2015) or who are living together in a manner similar to spouses.
However, we know that Divorce Law has always been one of the most contentious subjects in family law, as it does not only involve personal relationships breaking down with the spouses but it is generally devastating for the children. .
